Imperial road rehabilitated for tourism, linking Mangaratiba to São João do Príncipe, through the Atlantic forest
The walk begins with a short climb up the Imperial Road through the Atlantic forest. We pass by a huge waterfall, before arriving at another waterfall, the Cascade des Esclaves, and the Puits Impérial. The first project discussed in the Chamber of the new village was the construction of this road linking Mangaratiba to São João do Príncipe (São João Marcos). Remains of ruined buildings can be seen along this road, which has been rehabilitated for tourism.
