Baron de Sahy's "solar" is Mangaratiba's oldest "seigneurial" residence. This colonial house was built in 1831. Baron de Sahy, a great landowner and coffee planter, built his magnificent solar in the heart of Mangaratiba, whose development was linked to the growth of coffee cultivation. Today, it is the town's cultural center and, since 2012, has been home to a municipal museum displaying 17th-century colonial objects, 19th-century photographs of the town and a number of paintings.
