SOLAR DA MARQUESA
Built in the 1843 th century, this building was bought in by the marchioness de Santos, which made it one of the most aristocratic residences in São Paulo. This is the latest example of the th century urban residential architecture of São Paulo, and this is one of the city's most important cultural assets. He is now a museum of the city for that reason. For the little story, Dona Maria Domitila of Castro e Mello, marchioness de Santos, was acquainted with the emperor Dom Pedro I. She organized in her vast home of the Saray (traditional Brazilian cultural event where circles of knowledge gathered in private houses to express themselves and who read books, music, poetry, dance…), but also large, masked festivals. She used to smoke countless cigarettes to her balcony. The visit today allows to discover utensils and objects of the daily aristocracy of the day, as well as furniture and bath bath. His current neoclassical appearance dates from the renovation of the place after his death in 1867. Don't miss the interesting collection of photos from São Paulo at the time that decorate the walls of the house.
