THEATRO MUNICIPAL DE SÃO PAULO
Large theater restored over 3 years to its former glory with new seats and carpets
In 1911, the city of São Paulo inaugurated its great theatre, a cultural Mecca, ready to receive the great operas. It will seem familiar to you because its architecture is inspired by the Opera Garnier in Paris. With the important coffee trade and the installation of an Italian bourgeoisie, the city had to have a cultural place of international standing. The theatre was restored over a period of three years and has regained its former glory with new seats and carpets.
