MUSEU DA CASA BRASILEIRA (MCB)
Museum in the Solar Prado, collecting furniture and objets d'art considered to be of historical or artistic interest to the country
The museum is located in the Solar Prado, a beautiful neoclassical residence of a former mayor of São Paulo, Fabio da Silva Prado. The building was built in the early 1940s to the design of Wladimir Alves de Sousa, who drew much of his inspiration from the Imperial Palace in Petrópolis. Designed in 1970, the museum's objective was to collect furniture and art objects considered to be of historical or artistic interest to the country. Every year, the museum organizes the Design Prize.
