MODERNISTA HOUSE
Modernist house with garden and park of Atlantic forest with tropical species of the city
The modernist house was the first work built in 1928 by Gregori Warchavchik in the modernist wave, contrasting with the eclectic and Belle Epoque style buildings in the neighborhood. Composed of smooth white prisms, he planned to make it his home after his marriage to Mina Klabin, daughter of a Paulista industrialist. The garden of the modernist house, a 13,000-square-meter park of Atlantic forest, was shaped by his wife, one of the first to plant tropical species in the city. The family lived here until the house was sold in 1970.
