TAMAR
Environmental project to preserve sea turtle nests, one of the largest and best-known in Brazil
This environmental project for the preservation of marine turtles is one of the most important and well-known in Brazil. More than one million turtles have been born under the project's supervision. In addition to researching and accompanying the turtles, the TAMAR team also protects the nests along 1,000 km of coastline.
In the state of São Paulo, the only visitor centre is in Ubatuba. It is one of the largest in the network and covers 2,500m2. The aquariums and tanks, where the sea turtles live, are a great success with the public.
