Confucian festival held in all seowon (Confucian schools) in honour of Confucius and all the great sages.
This ceremony, originally practiced by all Confucianist countries, now exists only in South Korea. It takes place twice a year, in autumn on the anniversary of Confucius' birth and in spring on the anniversary of his death. All the shrines practice this ceremony, but it has a larger scope at the private university (also the largest shrine) Sungkyumkwan in Seoul. Traditional costumes, music and dance, that's the program.
