A larger stadium in Asia dedicated exclusively to football, this grand stadium built for the 2002 World Cup proudly shows its Korean origins. So its characteristic roof looks like a traditional Korean kite Kite. In 2002, the stadium held the opening match and two first-round matches as well as the half-finals. Once the world cup was finished, the stadium was refurbished in the World Cup Mall, a large commercial complex including a multiplex cinema, a hypermarket, a wedding room, a sports centre and a large commercial gallery.
