CHOJIJIN FORTRESS
Fortress built in 1655 during the reign of King Hyojong, with sites of interest in pleasant seaside locations.
This fortress was built in 1655 in the 6th year of King Hyojong's reign. The purpose was obviously to prevent enemy foreign attacks. Despite this, Chojijin was unfortunately the scene of the American and Japanese invasions in 1870. It was rebuilt in 1973 but the powerful patriotic spirit characteristic of the Joseon dynasty is still felt there. The sites of interest are by the sea, in relatively pleasant places, which compensates for the fact that there is not much to see per se.
