MONT MANISAN
A high mountain whose summit features the impressive Chamseongdan altar used by Dangun to honor his celestial ancestors.
At the top of this mountain, which is the highest on the island (468 m), is the impressive Chamseongdan altar, supposedly used by Dangun to honour his celestial ancestors. It underwent three repairs in 1270, 1639 and 1700. Nowadays, followers of the Daejonggyo religion have made it a place of pilgrimage. On October 3, the day of the Foundation, they gather in white clothes, sing and pray for the prosperity of their nation. We put on good walking shoes and start climbing this mountain which lasts about 1 hour.
