It is one of the few in Korea that is located on the banks of a river. According to legend, it was built by Wonhyo during the reign of Jinpyeong in the Silla Dynasty . The Hall of the Old Masters (Josadang) was built during the reign of Yejong (1468-69) and houses 3 portraits of monks dating from the 14th century. He also has beautiful pieces of Buddhist art. 3 stone monuments are representative of this art: a stone bell, a beautiful stone lamp in grey marble decorated with dragons and winged deities but also a stele dedicated to the monk Poje.
