ABAI VILLAGE
A pleasant village on a peninsula, a place of refuge during the Korean War, which became famous after the filming of a TV series.
Just opposite the port, on a small peninsula, Abai village is the place where, during the Korean War, hundreds of North Korean refugees found asylum (remember that before 1950, Sokcho was in North Korean territory, the line of demarcation having moved northward in this region). This small village has become famous since a successful TV series was shot there, and it is a very pleasant place, made of small alleys and shops, where photographers capture unique atmospheres (the village has changed little).
