Hwaam cave with surprisingly shaped stalactites and stalagmites, and an immense wall of golden stalactites 30 m high.
Hwaam is beautiful, winding, wild. We pass in front of 2 rocky peaks that form a natural gateway to the stream (Seongmun). We go through the cave first. In addition to the usual stalactites and stalagmites with surprising shapes, the cave offers a huge wall of golden stalactites 30 m high, one of the largest in Asia, and golden veins. Part of the cave was indeed the object of extraction of precious ore during the Japanese occupation.
