TOMB OF KING MUYEOL
Tomb of King Muyeol, who defeated the kingdom of Baekje, one of the greatest Silla kings and one of the best-known Koreans.
It is the tomb of one of the greatest kings of Silla (probably the best known of the Koreans themselves). Muyeol finally defeated the kingdom of Baekje in 660 and thus allowed his son and successor Munmu to accomplish the unification of the country. Although the tomb is less beautiful than those of the kings of the Joseon Dynasty, it is still quite large and there is a very well preserved turtle that once supported a stele. Thanks to the inscription that can be read on it, it has been possible to identify with almost certainty to whom this tomb belongs.
