A stele was erected in the forest where King Talhae is said to have heard a rooster crying and found a box containing the future Kim Alji.
A beautiful forest where a surprising legend was born. One fine day in the year 65, King Talhae heard a rooster crying. He dispatched a chancellor, who found the animal crying under a tree. Next to the rooster was a golden box containing a small child, the future Kim Alji, whose descendants formed the Kim clan of the Silla kingdom. The forest took the name of Gyerim, the Chicken Forest, and in 1803 a stele was erected. To the south-west of this park lies an old quarter full of old houses dating back to the Joseon period.
