A lotus-covered pond bordered by a pavilion dating from 1664, ideal for visiting during the flowering season from early July to late September.
Here is a beautiful lotus pond in the village of Namsan, at the edge of which stands a pavilion dating from 1664, Arakdang. Here is the fascinating and famous Korean legend related to this basin. It all happened in the tenth year of the reign of King Soji of Silla (488). While he was having a quiet lunch near Namsan, he suddenly heard rats and crows fighting. He approached the place of the ruckus and one of the rats told him to follow the crow. The king asked a soldier to do so, and the soldier went after the bird. He took her to this pool from which miraculously emerged an old man who was holding a terrifying letter for the king in which was written this message: "One will die if it is not opened, two will die if it is. "The king finally opened the letter and found a message in it, telling him to go to the queen's chamber and shoot an arrow in her wardrobe, which he did as soon as he returned to the palace. He then pierced a monk who had hidden there. Lover of the queen, he had conspired with her to assassinate the king. The queen was also executed, thus confirming the fateful oracle. The pool then took its name, "the pool from which a letter emerges".
To admire this pond covered with the magnificent aquatic plant, it is best to go there from the beginning of July to the end of September, when flowering is at its best. It's breathtakingly beautiful and the place is ideal for poetic souvenir shots.
