JINJU FORTRESS
A riverside fortress, site of the battle led by General Kim Si-Min and home to the Chokseonknu pavilion.
This fortress beautifully located on the river was the scene of a famous battle during the Imjin War (1592-1598), led by a masterful hand by General Kim Si-Min. A memorial has been erected in his memory. The most interesting building in this fortress is the Chokseonknu pavilion. Behind it is an altar in memory of the courtesan Non-gae who committed suicide by diving into the river. What charms us the most in this site is really its pretty location at the edge of the water, very bucolic.
