Cheongsando Island, a typical Korean island, and Bogildo Island, the most beautiful of the marine park, with lovely beaches and forests.
From Wando and its port of Hwaheungpo, you can visit two offshore islands, easily accessible for a day trip (except in bad weather, of course).
Cheongsando. Nestled in the Dadohae National Maritime Park, the small island of Cheongsando is the ideal place to discover a typical Korean island, preserved from mass tourism (quite different from Jeju, for example). Its slogan is evocative of the tranquility it exudes: "the joy of life in slow motion". In fact, the island was officially named a Slow City in 2007. We particularly appreciate the island's calm, the work in the fields, and the picturesque little villages like Sangseo-ri, with its labyrinth of charming stone walls listed as a cultural heritage site. Cheongsando is a charming place that makes for a very pleasant day out, at the slow pace of Slow-gil.
Bogildo. This is undoubtedly the most beautiful island in the maritime park. Nature reigns supreme and serenity reigns. It has the most beautiful beach (Yesong-ri) and the most beautiful forest. High praise indeed! But it has to be said that this island is truly heavenly. You can enjoy the sea, but also the mountains with their abundant vegetation and the promise of unforgettable hikes. These two absolutely charming islands are well worth a visit for both their natural setting and their culture. You'll almost forget for a moment that you're in South Korea.
