Reproduction of the famous turtle boat invented by Admiral Yi Sun-sin during the Japanese invasions, measuring 37 m in length.
It's a reproduction of the famous turtle-ship invented by Admiral Yi Sun-sin during the Japanese invasions. Appointed commander of the Jeollado in 1591, he foresaw the invasion and had these small, maneuverable metal battleships built, armed with cannons and spurs, virtually unapproachable and unsinkable. He sank 337 Japanese ships, cutting off the supply of infantry troops and partly causing the Japanese to retreat. The boat is a good reproduction. It is 37 m long and could carry 130 to 150 soldiers.
