CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL OF JEONDONG
Beautiful cathedral with a blend of Romanesque and Byzantine styles, built in honor of the Christian martyrs of the Joseon dynasty.
This cathedral is certainly the most beautiful in all Korea (much more than the one in Myeongdong in Seoul). We admire its style, a mixture of Romanesque and Byzantine style, as well as the red and grey bricks that make it characteristic. It was imagined by the French clergyman, Father Poirel. Its construction was completed in 1914 during the Japanese colonization. It was built in honour of the Christian martyrs of the Joseon dynasty.
