SANGDANGSANSEONG FORTRESS
A 4 km-long fortress built under Baekje with three almost-intact gates, the scene of battles against the Japanese in 1592.
This 4 km long fortress was built under Baekje. It was rebuilt and enlarged under Silla. It was the scene of fighting against the Japanese in 1592, then it was rebuilt in 1716. It takes place on gentle slopes, very close to the city centre. It consists of three almost intact doors. One in the east, one in the west and the last one in the south. The first two are square in shape, while the one to the south is shaped like a crescent moon.
