POTHONGGANG SUPERMARKET
The supermarket, which is located at the roundabout of Ponghwa Street, opened in December 2010 under the impetus of Kim Jong-Il, who was present at the inauguration. In 2011, the American magazine Forbes published an article describing the place as full to three quarters of imported products like Mars chocolaty bars and Heinz Ketchup. It seems to be open only to the most affluent, to foreign tourists and diplomats. Clothes and shoes are also on sale. It is possible to pay in foreign currencies or in North Korean won. The visit of the place is not foreseen in the majority of the agencies ' programmes, but it is possible to ask, once on the spot, to go there. If the Interior of the building is interesting, the exterior is just as much: many cars manufactured abroad (Mercedes...), admittedly of older models, but still, are parked in the vicinity while their owner are shopping.
