MANGYONGDAE LEISURE PARK
The leisure park of Mangyongdae which is 12 kilometres from the city centre of Pyongyang stretches over 70 hectares and includes many attractions and even a small swimming pool: you can climb on roller coaster (operational although poorly maintained), flying chairs or ride a little train. Opened in 1982, the leisure park had only a very low clientele until a visit by Kim Jong-Il in December 2011 which noticed the gloomy atmosphere and the dilapidated state of the facilities. It was after a second inspection in May 2012 that the latter ordered Choe Ryong-Hae, the Director of the general political Bureau of the people's Army of Korea, to revitalize the Park and transform it according to Songun's policy. The Park has been partially renovated, and is open to foreigners.
The entrance is included in the packages of the agencies, some attractions are chargeable (a few euros).
