SONGDOWON CHILDREN'S CAMP
This children's camp has amazing facilities… an Olympic-sized stadium, an ice palace, an aquarium with all sorts of fish, turtles and sharks! It welcomes children from countries which are Korea’s friends, who can enjoy the countless activities available in this Centre. Everything is built to suit children: small furniture, soft colours and illustrations of animals on the walls (they strangely look like those of Western cartoons...). Opened in 1960 and recently renovated, this establishment aims to accustom young foreigners (mainly Communists ones) to the local lifestyle for about 350 US dollars, lifestyle including air conditioning, video games... We could hardly believe that hot water and electricity in the hotels are limited. The attendance rate seems to be random: in July 2017 during the full holiday season the centre was completely empty, but perhaps it was an exception... There are many pictures of groups in the camp with Kim Jong-Il or Kim Jong-UN.
