LES RUES DU COMMERCE
These three parallel streets connecting each boulevard of Uprona to the Chaussée carriageway form the heart of trade in stores in Bujumbura. It complements the shops of appliances, telecommunications, textiles and miscellaneous items, often held by "Asians" (Indians and Pakistanis), Arabs or Europeans who have been in Burundi for a long time and fully control Kiswahili.
The Mission Street is primarily the domain of textiles, saunas and clothing. Under the barzas of shops, designers (men and women) design tailor-made clothes with old sewing machines (movement on foot). It's a perfect place to get an original shirt or dress in a few hours.
The lines of Victory and Friendship are more easily accessible from service agencies and office shops, but there are also small jewellery stores, and some commercial galleries where fashion shops are located.
Finally, since the fire of the central market, many galleries have opened here and there across the city.
