In its secondary areas, the Kibira forest, near Bugarama, includes large formations of bamboo (Arundinaria alpina, umugano en). The plant is used for the construction of pens, houses and roofs, but also for the manufacture of various decorative, decorative or utilitarian objects.
Near Bugarama, coming from Bujumbura on the left, several houses offer to sell these typical objects of the region, attractive for tourists. Vanneries are found in bamboo slats (ikangara), jours in lower, but very original bamboo cuts, to be suspended or to be laid (lamp mounted at 1 m from the ground), various dishes and spoons, as well as small drums, of Burundian style (pyrogravés) or Rwandan (goat hair slats).
