BATWA VILLAGE
A few kilometres from Bugarama, on the road to Bukeye and just before the Teza bridge, this village was organized in 2007, with support from the SDF fund and the French embassy in Burundi, under the impetus of Patrice Faye. Marginalized in society and poorly known by foreigners, the Batwa used to the collection of forest products rather than agriculture are poorly integrated socially and economically. This initiative, which is now managed and financed by Françoise Najean (Murakaza School in Bujumbura), makes it possible to make their knowledge better. The school, which accommodates 150 students in the morning, is also open in the afternoon for parents who wish to learn. On the spot, you can visit the school or simply spend time with the Batwa, but as they speak little French, you will be helpful with a guide. On the phone, you can contact Françoise for more information.
