MINOLACS PLANT
This private plant, the Great Lakes Mills, was created in 1980 and is now transforming 12 000 tonnes of wheat per year. Expansion work is expected at the beginning of 2013 to raise these results to 33 000 tons per year. As Burundi does not produce enough wheat, the plant is forced to import from Australia, the US or Canada. Its production is then sold exclusively in Burundi and is used either for the manufacture of breads and doughnuts (flour) or for the manufacture of animal feed (with sound).
At the time of its installation on this hill, from which one enjoys a remarkable view of the entire city of Muramvya, a controversy was committed because in reality it was the site of a former enclosure of the Mwami Gisabo Gisabo.
