Materialized in the era of the colonial monarchy by sacred groves that des protected religiously, these old sites can only be visited with the help of local guides, so they are now difficult to locate. Buruhukiro, not far from Remera and Muruta, south-west of Kayanza, would be the tomb of the famous Ntare Rugamba, while, to the north, towards the border with Rwanda, one can search for the domains of Budandari where ancient kings (th century) are buried.
