At the entrance to «Resort Resha» is an unusual and historic building that once protruding a postcard beach, a sand meadow stung palm trees and large trees. It was called the «Castel Maus», the name of its former owner and designer, Albert Maus, a unfrocked priest who was very committed politically to Burundi in the years 1950-1960. Influenced by the model of the «Hutu social revolution» in Rwanda, he tried to launch a similar movement in Burundi, but without success. In 1961, he committed suicide in politics. Its concrete sarcophagus still lies nearby.
This is a Belgian with a strange personality with no bounds to the Réformateur pharaoh Akhenaton (Amenhotep IV), to whom he dedicated his residence ("Castel Akhenaton"), on which a carved copper plate representing the Egyptian sovereign is affixed. Located shortly before the Second World War, the villa presents an extravagant architecture with steep roofs of various levels and orientations, curved doors, and above all a kind of semaphore from which one can observe the beach and the remote shores of the lake. Unfortunately, the so-called renovation of this "castle" at the time of the construction of the complex complex perverted its style.
