HOPE GARDENS & ZOO
A small zoo and amusement park for children in Kingston, a good place to visit to discover a variety of animals and plants.
Richard Hope, an officer in Cromwell's army, established his 17th century estate here. The 80-hectare gardens date from 1881, when the government bought the property. With plant displays, botanical research and nurseries, orchids, cacti, a small zoo and a children's amusement park, this place offers a relaxing break from the urban chaos of Kingston for the locals. The zoo is home to iguanas, crocodiles and a variety of tropical birds. Lunch is available at Hungry Hut, dinner at Serengeti Bistrot, with live entertainment every Friday night.
