THE OLYMPIA GALLERY

The Olympia Art Center is a creative space, a small art hub in the heart of Kingston, located in a historic residential complex. In the 1970s, Jamaican civil architect A.D. Scott, a patron of the arts and a sculptor in his own right, wanted to create a hotel residence within an arts center, or art within a living space, in the manner of Le Corbusier.

Galerie Olympia. Surrounded by a beautiful sculpture garden, the main gallery exhibits works by contemporary artists in a vast two-storey octagonal space covered by a huge Plexiglas dome roof. The space can even accommodate very large formats (visual artists, painters...). Many are Jamaican, but many are also Caribbean, so collectors beware! On the third floor, you'll discover a fresco painted by the famous national artist Barrington Watson. The mural covers all the walls of the room with scenes illustrating the history of the Jamaican people's liberation from slavery. There are exhibitions of ceramics as well as old lithographs; the themes of the monthly exhibitions are very varied.

Galerie OMG Olympia. A smaller, more intimate pop-up gallery, the OMG is a space hosting exhibitions of smaller objects or collections, as well as artistic events (performances, book signings, workshops, etc.).

Framing and supplies. A framing store and an art supplies store complete the décor of this very interesting art center.
