NAVAL CEMETERY
Visit the British naval military cemetery, where British naval personnel who died between 1680 and 1880 are buried.
The British naval cemetery is visible from the road, about a kilometer before you arrive in Port Royal. It has been in existence since 1682, built after the first earthquake that shook the island and took many lives among the settlers. Here lie, for the most part, English naval personnel who died between 1680 and 1880. There is something mysterious about the landscape of scattered crosses in a cemetery where nature has reclaimed its rights. The anchor at the entrance is that of the HMS Goshawk, a ship that sank in the bay.
