Folly Ruins
Ruins of the 50-room Greek temple-style mansion built by a wealthy American in the early century.
Only ruins remain of the 50-room Greek temple-style mansion that wealthy American Alfred Mitchell built for his wife in the early 20th century. Legend has it that the roof collapsed the day the young bride crossed its threshold. But the building gradually cracked and collapsed: the salt oxidized the metal structures. Long squatted by rastas, the ruins are often the setting for films and commercials, notably the crime thriller The Mighty Quinn, starring Denzel Washington. At the far end, the 1888 Folly lighthouse.
