FRENCHMAN'S COVE
Jamaica's most photographed and best-known white-sand beach, with restaurant, a superb place to visit.
L'Anse du Français is the most photographed and best known beach in Jamaica, and it is not without reason because it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches. The beach is deep, planted with high coconut trees that filter the golden light of an uncompromising tropical sun. It is surrounded by two rocky eminences that crumble into the sea. In the 1950s, this little corner of paradise was one of the most expensive hotels in the world. Today, with its glorious past behind it, the property lives on its reputation, although its star has waned. The nine villas and rooms for rent are scattered in the hills above the beach. To keep the place exclusive and privileged, only 60 people are allowed on the beach (of reduced size), and once the quota is reached, you have to wait for possible exits to hope to enter. The advice is therefore to arrive early in the morning... Rental of deckchairs and umbrellas.
On the left side of the beach is the mouth of a small river that ends its languid course in a freshwater pool shaded by tall trees. Between the fresh and cool water and the salty and warmer sea water, the body swings..
A restaurant serves some dishes and excellent cocktails at reasonable prices.
A jewelry seller (a small old man) on the way offers very nice necklaces made of turquoise, pearls and other semi-precious stones at very reasonable prices.
