FERN GULLY
The former bed of a dried-up river, a narrow canyon wedged between the steep sides of two hills, a must-see in Ocho Rios.
This former dry river bed is a narrow canyon wedged between the steep sides of two hills. Five kilometers long, it is densely planted with a hundred varieties of immense ferns. The roof of greenery lets the rays of an uncertain light filter through, creating a unique atmosphere. Unfortunately, it is impossible to walk there, as the narrow road carries heavy traffic. The place is protected, classified as a national park, but car pollution destroys some varieties of ferns, to the great displeasure of ecologists.
