This is Negril's only concession to the architecture of the last century. Built in 1894 by a French company, Barber and Bernard, the lighthouse stands twenty metres above the sea, at the end of Negril's West End, at the far western tip of the island. In the past, the lighthouse was powered by kerosene and then acetylene. For a few years now, it has been completely closed to visits.
