The metal structure that spans the mouth of the Black River dates back to 1938, at the height of the industrial revolution in Europe, and is named after the first white colonial Black River family from Old England, but is also known as the Imperial Bridge. Originally, a simple barge was used to cross the river. To give way to modernity, it was replaced by a wooden bridge, itself replaced by the current steel bridge. It is an ideal spot to observe the large crocodiles gilding in the sun on the banks.
