Tired of constraints and climate of his native England, William Robson transplanted his London toy factory in Jamaica in 1983. Magic Toys'visit is interesting as much for the artisan shop where the wood toys are designed and made for a look at the property. The house built by the Moravians in 1895 evokes old Europe with its small tiles, thick walls and grey roof. The workshop houses a dozen craftsmen who are exposed to cutting local wood (blue mahoe above all), reproduction of the light colours of local fauna and assembly of pieces of all shapes. The magnets, puzzles, mosaics, mirrors, signs, and other decorative objects, accessories, rods, pins, pine's, are designed by William, which finds its main source of inspiration in the treasures of local fauna and flora. It's ideal for making original small gifts at factory prices, starting at 35 JMD. And if the reasons seem familiar to you, you'll have noticed them at one of the hotels or restaurants of which William realized the decoration or pavilion of Jamaica at the International Exposition in Seville in 1992.
