This cinema is a fine example of the architecture of the 1930 s, more functional than aesthetic. The building, called the ARO building (the name of the insurance firm who ordered the construction), was designed by Horia Creangă, who, together with Marcel Iancu, is a flagship figure of modernist architecture in Romania. The building dates back to 1931 and is home to a cinema that remains one of the most famous of the city, despite the competition of the Periphery Multiplex.
