It is a very important rural tourism centre. Situated at 630 m above sea level and with a population of 7 000 inhabitants, it is the first town crossed by the DÂmboviţa, which takes its source higher and flows to the capital.

It is also an important handicraft centre where you will find beautiful carpets and costumes. Many of its houses have preserved their traditional architecture.
