With a pleasant park at its center, the main square, piața Regele Ferdinand I, is surrounded by beautiful houses. Some are in the local Renaissance style, such as Casa Schuller (no. 25). Built in 1588, it hosted meetings of the Transylvanian Diet. Baroque Casa Schuster (no. 14) was the birthplace and childhood home of Saxon writer Gustav Schuster-Dutz. This square was once the site of major public events: executions, military parades, annual fairs... It still hosts important events today.
