CATHOLIC CHURCH
Located at the top of piața Republicii, this church without bell tower was built between 1475 and 1504 in Gothic style. The interior was later redesigned in Baroque style. Until the 18th century it was surrounded by high defensive walls. In 1568, the Edict of Turda was signed there, proclaiming freedom of conscience and religious tolerance. The edict stated that each priest could interpret the Gospels in his own way, without incurring persecution. A peculiarity peculiar to Transylvania, a multi-ethnic and multi-religious region.
