The Bârsana monastery, dedicated to St. Nicholas, is one of the most photographed monasteries in the region. The convent, comprising a group of churches and wooden residences, impresses with its position in the green hills of Maramureş. The entrance to the Monastery of the Twelve Apostles is through a magnificent carved portal. Listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, the Church of the Virgin Mary is one of the highest in the entire region. The site, dating from 1720, is impressive for its architectural unity.

Monastère à l'architecture spectaculaire
Une belle visite à l'entrée du Muramures (en provenant de Bucovine). La visite peut paraître décevante après les merveilles de Bucovine : la restauration du monastère de Barsana a été trop poussée et le monastère paraît neuf. Il n'en reste pas moins que les bâtiments en bois sont très impressionnants. Entrée gratuite

Grand complexe
Le site du monastère de Barsana est un ensemble de plusieurs résidences en bois, d'églises et d'un monastère qui font de ce complexe pas seulement un point d'intérêt religieux, mais où il est également agréable de s'y balader et surtout très beau à photographier. N'hésitez pas à vous y arrêter :-)
