CHURCH BĂRBOI
It was built in 1841 on the site of a previous 17th century church. Its walls alternate stone blocks and rows of bricks. The rectangular building, topped by five towers, blends Neo-Byzantine and classical styles. Weakened by the 1977 earthquake, it was nearly demolished and surrounded by boulders, but was finally restored.
Not far away, along Anastasie Panu Boulevard, you can immerse yourself in the bustle of the central market. This large, noisy building is part of the Civic Centre, an all-concrete administrative district dating from the 1970s.
