Timetable

The nightlife is very active from Thursday to Sunday night. The opening days and hours vary slightly from one establishment to another. Clubs and discotheques open from 10pm to 4am.

Budget & Tips

Entrance fees vary from 36 to 80 DKK depending on the event. You will pay about the same for drinks. You can get free tickets before midnight in most nightclubs.

To be booked

If you're a fan of improvisational theater, you'll want to buy tickets to the ICC Théâtre (in English; www.improvcomedy.eu), as the venue is very small!

Night transport

Copenhagen's metro is active 24 hours a day. Special train and bus services operate during the night. Buses with night service are marked "N" and run between 1:00 and 5:00 am. Check www.rejseplanen.dk.

Age restrictions

You must be at least 18 to buy alcoholic beverages in bars and nightclubs. Some establishments, such as cocktail bars and nightclubs, do not allow entry to minors. Remember to bring your photo ID with you, especially as some clubs don't accept anyone under 21, and sometimes even under 23!

What's very local

Fredag's bar or "Friday bar" is very popular in Denmark, both at universities and in companies. Their frequentation has become an obligatory passage to integrate into the group, so the habit is also taken to meet in clubs and bars. In clubs and discos, it's fashionable to be well-dressed. As you'll see, Danes like to look smart! Some clubs have a scrambler signal, so you can't use your phone to call or text. Danes love jazz, and concerts and jam sessions are frequent.

Smokers

Smoking is prohibited in public places, except in bars of less than 40^m2. That's why terraces are so popular. In clubs, you'll need to go to the reserved areas.
