KØGE CHURCH (KØGE KIRKE)
church in Køge, preserving a number of treasures: tombstones, frescoes, organs and Baroque furnishings.
Built in the 12th century, the church conceals some admirably preserved treasures: tombstones, frescoes, organs, baroque furniture. You will notice here and there noseless cherubs! They were broken by the Swedes during the occupation of the city at the end of the 17th century. All around the church the medieval town extends, some beautiful houses are listed. The oldest one is Kirkestræde no. 20 and dates from 1527, according to the inscription above the door.
