FANEFJORD CHURCH (FANEFJORD KIRKE)
A beautiful church with frescoes illustrating the New Testament, some by the Elmelunde master.
Entering the island from Farø, take one of the first roads on the right, and watch out for the signs. This beautiful church dates back to 1250. Frescoes illustrating the New Testament were painted during the 14th century, some of them by the master of Elmelunde, an island artist who decorated several Møn churches. In the past, these images were known as the Biblia pauperum (the "poor man's Bible"). The vivid colors are enhanced by the lighting.
