KELDBY CHURCH (KELDBY KIRKE)
Superb churches on a small island, renowned for their frescoes by the island's painter, Maître Elmelunde.
A small island, but three superb churches, renowned for their frescoes. These were discovered in 1883 and restored a few years later. They date from different periods: the earliest, in the choir, date back to 1275; a second series, from 1325, adorns the nave; and the most famous were executed by the island's painter, Maître Elmelunde. These sacred decorations, on whitewashed walls, illustrate scenes from the Old and New Testaments.
